Share content effortlessly, for smooth collaboration

Today, information-sharing is integral to every digital workflow. Skyfish offers you versatile tools that help you share content easily, while keeping you in complete control of your data.

Whether you’re sharing B2B product material, media from a creative team to a client, project work with an external partner, or internal company procedures: Skyfish’s sharing features optimize your collaboration in multiple scenarios.

Sharing: The Possibilities

You can share content internally, with other Skyfish users, or with users outside your organization’s Skyfish account.

Sharing folders internally with other Skyfish users

You can share folders and subfolders in your Skyfish Drive with other registered users in your organization.

Individual users or whole user groups can be assigned different folder rights, to keep access restricted to only who should be allowed. If you want some users to be able to edit files, while making sure others can only view them, this fine-grained security is fully possible.

To share a folder, you must have Edit & Upload rights in it, or be a Skyfish Administrator. It only takes a few clicks to choose which users or user groups you want to share a folder with.

You can also share subfolders in a folder hierarchy, while keeping the ‘parent’ folders secure and inaccessible. Access granted to a parent folder, however, is transferred down to the subfolders inside. Grant access to entire projects, or just to individual elements!

Sharing files and folders with external partners

It’s also easy to sharing content with external partners who are not registered as Skyfish users.

With just a few clicks, you can generate a Share Link for a folder. Copy and send the link to external partners however you need: email, social media, or instant message.

You can also sort the folder’s files when sharing it, by file name, date uploaded, or creation date. This makes it easy for external partners to quickly find the most important files for them. They can even download media files in different sizes, depending on their needs.

Lastly, you can specify access rights for external users too, deciding whether they can upload files to the shared folder. Whether a project needs external stakeholders to be active participants, or just watchful observers: Skyfish makes both possibilities easy.

Share securely and track shared content

Sharing files and folders with external partners

On Skyfish, folders can be shared with different access rights. You can adjust rights for different users, as and when you need.

You can choose whether users can View content, View & Upload it, or Edit & Upload it.

You can also set rights for individual users, or save yourself time by creating a group of users and assigning rights to the whole user group. This makes it easy to ensure an entire team will receive the same access rights for a folder, for example.

Sharing files and folders with external partners

It can be hard to maintain control over your files when sharing them with external partners, but Skyfish makes this easy.

Before sending any Share Link to an external partner, you can specify how long it will stay active: just set a limited number of days before it expires.

After you create a Share Link, it appears in your Shared Links overview in Skyfish. This list shows you all your shared content at a glance, regardless of whether it was shared by you, or other Skyfish users. Here you can see who has shared which content, for how long each Share Link is valid, and what upload and edit rights each instance of sharing allows.

You can also remove a Share Link with a single click, making the link inactive and the files no longer accessible, so that you can maintain tight security at all times.

It’s simple and straightforward to share your content with Skyfish

To share a folder internally: Right-click (Mac: Cmd-click) on the folder to open its context menu. Select Share Folder. You will see an overview of all available Skyfish users and user groups. Select with whom you want to share the folder, and assign one of the three permissions options to them: View, View & Upload, or Edit & Upload.

To share a folder or file externally: Right-click (Mac: Cmd-click) on the folder or file to open its context menu. Select Share Link.  Specify how long anyone with the link can use it. You can set the link to never expire, or to expire after a certain number of days.

If your Share Link is to a folder, you can sort the folder’s files by file name, upload date, or creation date. You can also choose whether people with the link can upload files to the folder.

After selecting exactly the settings you need to maintain your data security, simply copy the generated Share Link, and share it with your external partners.
