Video Streaming

Direct embedding of videos into the website

Video Streaming lets you play videos over the Internet without having to download them first. Instead of making audiences wait to load or buffer videos, Video Streaming ensures that videos are played back quickly and smoothly.

Video Streaming thus enables you to share your videos directly via your website or intranet. You can present your content in a distraction-free environment without needing to redirect users to other platforms. Viewers see your video, and nothing else.

Video Streaming works for every video you have stored on Skyfish, so there’s no need to use other streaming services at all — you retain full control and rights over your content.

Lastly, Skyfish’s video streaming ensures that you only need to store your videos in one place: Skyfish. By keeping your files in a safe environment, and controlling their broadcast with just a few clicks, your content remains protected.

How video streaming with Skyfish works

To embed your video online so it can be streamed from Skyfish, you need an Embed Code. You can request an Embed Code for a video in Skyfish from the context menu (right-click or cmd-click). Upon your request, Skyfish re-encodes the video into HSL format in order to stream it. Your original file format is preserved on Skyfish.

Embed the code online wherever you want audiences to be able to find and play the video. Simply copy the code and insert it either directly into a website’s source code, or into a website builder, or into a CMS. This way, you can place your video exactly where your audience should see it.

Accessibility for all viewers is supported with subtitles. Subtitles, in any language, are simple to add in Skyfish. Open a video file’s streaming settings from the context menu, add a VTT subtitle file, and set which language the subtitles are in. All available languages are supported. Subtitles can also be changed or removed just as easily.

After customizing your video and inserting the embed code at the desired position, your viewers will be able to watch the video directly without seeing any ad clips in advance.

Skyfish also provides a quick overview of all the videos with an active Embed Code, to help you keep track of what’s being streamed. If you want to stop any video’s streaming, simply deactivate the Embed Code.  Once the code is disabled, the video will no longer play wherever it is embedded.

High quality, with maximum data protection

By streaming videos using the HLS format, which is specially optimized for streaming, Skyfish ensures playback stays problem-free, even under unstable network conditions.

The video quality automatically adapts to the user’s device and internet speed. Videos do not autoplay, but keep the user in control, so that they can decide for themselves when to watch.

All videos are streamed in HD quality by default, and you can also adjust the image-size and aspect ratio for the stream, so you don’t need complex settings or editing tools to give every viewer an optimal visual experience. Moreover, all common video file types are supported: .mp4, .mpeg, .mov, .avi, .webm and .flv.

Privacy is extremely important in Skyfish. We do not use trackers or cookies when video streaming, to uphold the privacy of our users.

Nor does Skyfish display any logos or overlays on your video. Your content plays undisturbed and distraction-free. Unlike other streaming providers, Skyfish displays no annoying advertisements at all, either. There’s never a need to redirect audiences to other platforms, or outcompete other videos battling for their attention. In short, viewers see only your video.
