PUBLIC MEDIA GALLERY

What is a Public Media Gallery?

The Public Media Gallery may at first look like an ordinary folder – but it is so much more! With simple tools, the content of this folder is easily set up in a professional and appealing online gallery, making it ideal for sharing with the press, business partners, customers, or anyone you want to share your files with.

When visiting your Public Media Gallery, people will find the content of your folder right under your chosen illustration with your logo and your text.

Each subfolder can be given its own illustration and descriptive text at the top of the page, and you can pick any colour for the folders or even replace the folder icons with images that represent the content of your folders.

The Public Media Gallery is shared via an URL, which you can insert on your website, in emails, or where you want to direct your audience to your images.

When placing files in the Public Media Gallery, they can be found by anyone online without any restrictions. So this is for the images, you don’t want to hide from anyone.

How to start working with the Public Media Gallery?

Only an admin can start up the organization’s Public Media Gallery.

If other users need access to the files in the Public folder, the folder should be shared with them – like any other folder.

  1. Click your name in the top right corner to go to Settings
  2. Select “Public Page” in the menu on the left
  3. Pick a good name for your Public Media Gallery. This name will be a part of the URL  visible to everyone who visits the page
  4. Click “Start using Public Gallery”
  5. Go to Public Media Gallery where you will now find your URL at the top left
  6. Click “Edit layout” to start customizing your Gallery

Where can I find the Public URL?

Go to Public Media Gallery. You find the URL just above your folders, on the left.

How to rename the Public URL?

You can only rename the URLs for subfolders in your Public Media Gallery, not the main URL.

If you want to rename the main URL, we ask you to send an email to info@skyfish.com. Please include both the old and the new name to avoid any misunderstandings.

How to rename a subfolder:

  1. Go to the Public Media Gallery
  2. Click Edit layout in the upper right corner
  3. Change the URL
  4. Click “Save changes”

How to edit the look for folders?

You can either choose another folder colour or you can make it look really professional, by choosing an image as the folder cover.

Change folder colour:

  1. Go to the Public Media Gallery
  2. Click “Edit layout” at the top right
  3. Click the colour button at the top of the menu to select another colour
  4. Click “Save changes”

Select a folder cover image:

  1. Go to the relevant subfolder in your Public Media Gallery
  2. Mark an image
  3. Click “Set as folder cover” in the upper menu (or by right-clicking the image)

The image you want to use as a folder cover, needs to be in the folder when you select it. It will remain a cover image if you later move the file from the folder, but if you delete it the folder cover image will be replaced by a folder icon.

How to remove a folder cover image?

1. Open the relevant (sub)folder
2. Click  “Edit layout”
3. Select “Remove Folder Cover” in the right side panel
4. Click “Save”

Also, you can just replace the folder cover with a different image. See how in the question above, “How to edit the look for folders”.

Please be aware that the folder cover image is removed when the actual image (and all its copies) is trashed.

How to download several files at once?
