About Roskilde Festival

The Roskilde Festival is a huge music festival with over 180 musical acts. Every year, 130,000 participants move in together to create a creative and spiritual community—a temporary city with a population equal to Denmark’s 4th-largest city! With so many visitors, Roskilde generates thousands and thousands of images. And they need a fast and intuitive way to collect, organize, and share all those event photos.

“We need to be super efficient and we needed a program enabling us to deliver and store our material in an easy and fast way.”

The problem

With so many files to organize and share, Roskilde was severely limited by hard disk space and speed. Trying to save all their event photos on a hard drive was slow, inefficient, and frustrating. Trying to transfer images from USB devices caused delays.

Another problem was the difficulty they had in collecting and sharing user-generated photos from the event. This is really important to the Roskilde team, because in their own words, “We have 7 days to capture all the material that are keeping the festival ‘alive’ all year round.”

The solution

Thanks to Skyfish, the team at Roskilde Festival now has an easy and fast way to upload and organize thousands of images and event photos. During the festival, they had 3512 files uploaded to Skyfish in 174 folders and shared with 36 users, including employees, volunteers, external photographers, internal photographers, and film production teams.

They shared at least 40 folders with external press, resulting in 17,927 unique pageviews. In short, Skyfish helped the Roskilde Festival to collect and share more images than ever before—helping them to make their event last all year.

“It gives us a great flexibility when making our content available to external media both before, during, and after the festival.”
