About Gallus Ferd. Rüesch PLC
The Swiss company Gallus Ferd. Rüesch PLC is a pioneer in the production and distribution of label printing machines. They sell a comprehensive selection of label and folding carton printers and offer professional screen and label printing services. Over time they’ve gathered a lot of photos of their own products, which caused problems in the past because of their firewall. But today their digital images are all administered easily with the help of Skyfish.

The problem
Gallus had a lot of images to organize, including product images, event images, and more. But using FTP to upload files manually caused all sorts of problems, including firewall issues that caused delays and technical headaches. Clearly Gallus needed a better system for image organization, but they wanted their solution to be simple and user-friendly.
In the words of Marketing manager Matthias Marx: “We wanted to build up an image database which was easy to handle. For our purposes, media asset management software seemed too complicated, as we wanted an easy tool which did not require any pre-knowledge or big efforts.” Fortunately, Gallus’s image problems came to an end when they encountered Skyfish.
The solution
By using Skyfish, Gallus was able to master all their previous image challenges. For starters, the firewall was no longer a problem because of Skyfish’s ability to use Drag & Drop file uploading. In addition, the employees at Gallus found Skyfish to be much more user-friendly than their old method of trying to upload images manually through FTP. Gallus uses Skyfish both internally and externally.
Several admins from their marketing, communication and product management departments have access to Skyfish with different upload rights. Currently, Gallus showcases images of its printing machine models on their Public Media Gallery, helping to garner more press and recognition online. In the future, they want to use Skyfish to embed movies and advertising templates as an extra service for their customers.
