Johnny Hodges (by name Cornelius “ Johnny “ Hodges) was an American jazz alto saxophonist, best known for solo work with Duke Ellington´s big band. He played lead alto in the saxophone section for many years. Hodges was also featured on soprano saxophone, but refused to play soprano after 1946. He is considered one of the definitive alto saxophone players of the big band era (along with Benny Carter).

b. July 25, 1907 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
d. May 11, 1970 in New York.

Jimmy Jones (by name James Henry Jones) was an American jazz pianist and arranger. As a child he learned guitar and piano. As a pianist and arranger in New York City, he worked in the 1960s with Harry Belafonte and Johnny Hodges.

b. December 30, 1918 in Memphis.
d. April 29, 1982 in Burbank, California.
