Zoot Sims (by name John Haley “Zoot“ Sims) was an American jazz saxophonist, playing mainly tenor but also alto (and later soprano) saxophone.

b. October 29, 1925 in Inglewood, California.
d. March 23, 1985 New York.

Al Cohn (by name Alvin Gilbert Cohn) was an American jazz saxophonist, arranger and composer. He came to prominence in the band of clarinetist Woody Herman and was known for his longtime musical partnership with fellow saxophonist Zoot Sims.

b. November 24, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York.
d. February 15, 1988 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Gerry Mulligan (by name Gerald Joseph Mulligan) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, composer and arranger. George Mulligan's career as an engineer necessitated frequent moves through numerous cities. When Gerry was less than a year old, the family moved to Marion, Ohio, where his father accepted a job with the Marion Power Shovel Company.

d. January 20, in Darien, Connecticut
