Earl Hines (by name Earl Kenneth Hines) also known as Earl “ Fatha “ Hines, was an American jazz pianist and bandleader. He was one of the most influential figures in the development of jazz piano and, according to one source, "one of a small number of pianists whose playing shaped the history of jazz".

b. December 28, 1903 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania
d. April 22, 1983 in Oakland, California.

Mike Zwerin was an American cool jazz musician and author. Zwerin as a musician played the trombone and bass trumpet within various jazz ensembles. Zwerin studied at the High School of Music and Art, and began leading bands in his teens, in which he employed several up-and-coming musicians.

b. May 18, 1930 in Queens, New York.
d. April 2, 2010 in Paris, France.
