Arnvid Meyer (by name Arnvid Clement Meyer) was a Danish Jazz Musician and Bandleader for his own Orchestra (Arnvid Meyers Orchestra). Arnvid Meyer was the architect behind the Danish jazz center, that in 1971-1996 was an engine for jazz activities at home and abroad as secretariat, information center and archive. Arnvid Meyer grew up in Copenhagen and was already as a 12-year-old interested in jazz. He started playing the trumpet during the Second World War with, among others, Erik Parker. Meyer has left record and archive collections of international importance. The Jazz Centre's archives are today at the University of Southern Denmark, and his private collection will be transferred to the royal Danish library.
