They live 7 people in their hous in Azraq refugge camp: Mom, dad and three girls and two boys. They are lucky to have two caravans - one of them are mainly for guests. In the other one thay have a kitchen, a shower, a room for clothes and a living room where they sleep. They come from Daraa in Syria When they war started and things got tough they decided to flee to Libanon. They statyed there for six months, and the father of family found work. But in the end it was too hard and expensive, and there was no help from organizations. So they went back to Syria for a week, and then they escaped to Azraq. They have now lived in the camp for five years.
They had to pay a smuggler to get to the camp. Only women and children could it in a truck, the men had to walk. The mother was 7 months pregnant, and she had to cary all of their stuff, their clothes and bags together with three small girls. The journey lasted for 13 days, and the father had to take a different route - they didn't see eachother again before they reached Azraq.
In Syria they experienced bombings. And they feel much safer here i Azraq. They dont' want to go back to Syria - they fear that the father will have to serve in the army. So they have applied for aylum in the US and are waiting for an answer. They have family in Canada. Also, it is very expensive in Syria at the moment, so they couldn't afford much if they went back. In Azraq they have access to electricity and water and organizations are there to help them out financially. The father has a dfferent small jobs from time to time. The sister of the mother lives in Amman, but they don't go there often due to the costs of traveling seven people. The girls are all in school– grade 2, 4 and 1 next year.
