4-10 May 2014 Copenhagen hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. People from all over the world gathered in the Danish capital to be part of the greatest music event in the world. While the TV shows were staged in the old B&W shipyard on Refshaleøen island, Copenhagen city centre was dressed for Eurovision from top to bottom. The pedestrian shopping street Strøget was transformed into a Eurovision Fan Mile with pop up events, connecting the squares along its way from City Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv square. Especially the two adjacent squares Gammeltorv and Nytorv attracted attention, as they were transformed into a temporary Eurovision Village with concerts on stage, organic street food, kids’ activities and public viewings of the TV shows.
