Rasmus Bo Bojesen is the new restaurateur in the legendary jazz venue Jazzhus Montmartre. In the sixties Jazzhus Montmartre put Copenhagen on the international jazz-map when famed musicians like Dexter Gordon and Ben Webster plied their trade in the small venue in central Copenhagen.
Back then the hungry and beer-drinking jazz crowd gorged themselves with spring rolls and deep-fried mussels. The menu is quite different from the deep-fried sixties, when Jazzhus Montmartre reopened as a jazz-restaurant on the 1st of February.
Nordic soul food The new Montmartre offers Nordic soul food served family style – savory and green dishes predominantly based on seasonal and organic produce, fish and meats. The food is like the music - meant for sharing. The menu offers a range a la carte dishes and Montmartre’s signature menu Full Jazz that offers a selection of family style servings. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and before concerts Tuesday through Saturday.
Jazz and food The atmosphere and free-spirit of Copenhagen in the sixties and seventies attracted many of the finest American musicians and made Montmartre an European jazz temple. It propelled Copenhagen into the absolute jazz elite with names likes Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins all playing at Jazzhus Montmartre.
Jazz is still the heart and soul of Montmartre and there are concerts every weekend as always. Concert goers can enjoy dinner before the show and gets to keep their premium table for the entire evening. Friday and Saturday Montmartre offers cocktails and music until 2.00.
